New Haven Veteran's Memorial Coliseum

New Haven, Connecticut

The New Haven Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum work involved two distinct ice rink projects:

First, Installation of the American League professional hockey team, called the “Beast”, into new facilities at the coliseum. The work involved: new team rooms including locker/changing rooms; fitness rooms; workout and physical therapy room; public restroom upgrades; accessible ADA seating areas; food concessions; ice chiller replacement and skating rink modernizations; team banquet rooms; and renovations to coliseum administrative offices. Services included architecture, engineering, civil / site, costing, and FF&E.

Second, for The City of New Haven, an in-depth feasibility study to identify all system upgrades, modernizations, sport system upgrades, code improvements and sports and entertainment equipment to renovate the coliseum to competitive sports presentation venue standards. All HVAC systems were evaluated; ice systems were analyzed and recommendations made, all public and private spaces were planned and designed including food concessions, signage and display systems. Conceptual level expansion plans were developed to enclose portions of the exterior space; roof top parking structures were evaluated and improvements suggested. The project began with an Existing Conditions Report followed by a conceptual level design and cost analysis effort. Services included architectural, engineering, structural, ice & cost consultants.
